AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS

(PERMANENT LIPS)

Always wash your hands before touching the treatment area.

Twice daily, gently dab the treatment area with a dampened cotton pad to clean, then allow it to dry completely before using a Q-tip or clean finger to apply the healing balm. Apply the ointment throughout the day as needed for moisture. Continue this regimen for 7 days.

For the first two days, you can gently apply disposable ice packs (or reusable ice packs covered with clean tissue) for 15 minutes at a time to reduce swelling. Sleeping with your head elevated will keep swelling to a minimum.

You can use a gentle cleanser on your face during the first week, but do not splash your face with water. Only clean the treated area with dampened cotton pads or cotton balls. If the area gets wet accidentally, dab it dry gently with a tissue. Cover lips with the provided balm, Vaseline or Aquaphor before brushing your teeth or eating.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE HEALING PROCESS:

  • Your enhancement will appear darker and sharper for 3-5 days.

  • Around day 4, peeling/flaking begins. DO NOT PICK, as this may cause scarring or infection.

  • It is normal to experience swelling, redness, itching, metallic taste and/or color variations in the first few days.

  • Keep your hair, hands and pillow away from your lips during the first week.

  • No makeup for 3 days.

  • No kissing for 5-7 days.

  • Avoid hot, spicy or salty food, and drink through a straw for 3 days.

The following must be avoided for 7 days post-procedure:

  • Lasers, chemical peels, facial treatments or use of creams containing retinoids or acids

  • Hot sauna, hot baths, lengthy showers or jacuzzi use

  • Picking, peeling, or scratching the pigmented area

  • Heavy household tasks that involve a lot of airborne debris

  • Smoking or drinking alcohol in excess, as it may lead to slow healing

  • Touching the lips except when cleaning them

  • Swimming (submerging or splashing the treated area)

  • Direct sun exposure and salon tanning

If you have any unexpected problems with the healing process, please contact your artist to discuss further instructions.
